Recording artist Tom MacLear is having quite the run with his new “Unapproachable” (Meg Records) single. It’s closing in on our Top10 at AC40 and also just had a strong debut on the Top40 chart. In addition, this summer hit is also racing up the charts at New Music Weekly, FMQB and on the Independent Music Network’s Top30 Mainstream chart. The single is taken from his “Tom MacLear and Friends” CD released on the Meg Records indie label. Producer, singer, songwriter Tom MacLear, has often been referred to as “the man behind the curtain, one of music’s best kept secrets.” Prior to MacLear’s arrival in Los Angeles, at the age of 19, he had spent formative years in London where he found an affinity for all things stringed – including lap slide and pedal steel guitars, dobro, mandolin, banjo and bass. MacLear proceeded to have one of those prolific, quiet careers that many true musicians have – not the guys on the marquee – but the ones who write the songs, play whatever lick needs to be played. He has written and or played for Rod Stewart, Annie Lennox, Concrete Blonde, to name but a few. MacLear’s philosophy of music is simple — it is all about the song, all for the sake of the song. “That is the key thing, a good story goes a long way,” MacLear says. “To stand on stage and see people 10 rows back kissing or hugging because of something you’ve written or sung – to make people feel better or feel good – is the biggest reward. That’s what is so special about art and why I do what I do.” No stranger to awards, he has walked away with The Hollywood Music in Media Award for “Best Country Song” for “Someday” off of the “MacLear & Friends” CD and more recently “MacLear & Friends” was awarded “Best New Country Band 2015,” by New Music Weekly Magazine and also garnered top honors from the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.”Unapproachable” will, no doubt, add to his honors. I am very familiar with this artist work and have always loved his songs. I remember a friend of mine at the Independent Music Network introduced me to his music with a track called “Sweet Summer Days.” It had a good little vibe that I wanted to hear more from Tom MacLear. Not surprised at all that “Unapproachable” is making people stand up and take notice. He is a solid artist.

I, too, heard him first on IMN’ s syndicated radio show and loved his songs. I didn’t hear much for awhile until now and I am not surprised that “Unapproachable” is taking off so rapidly. I like his music a lot!
