If you know anything about Miranda Lambert, you know how much she loves animals. Her pets are as important to her as her music and she is the loving and devoted “Mom” to nine dogs. So, it is of no surprise that she stepped up to help pets in need during the the pandemic and it all began when Miranda’s back up singer Gwen Sebastian’s dog became quite ill as CoVid swept the USA and things began to shut down. Miranda had to stop her Wildcard Tour, so that meant the pay checks were not coming in for her band. “It was such an unexpected major expense at an already tough time,” explained Miranda as she spoke of the dog named Earl and his medical problems. “So, it got me thinking that there must be a lot more people whose careers in the music industry have been on pause due to lack of live performance opportunities, and who are struggling with their pets’ vet bills. Because music and mutts are my two passions, I knew I had to do something.” And so she did. The award winning singer teamed up with the Waggle Foundation to establish the MuttNation Fund which will help music industry employees cover their pets’ medical bills. The application for the fund is open to anyone in the music community who has a dog or cat with medical needs and whose life has been impacted by the pandemic. All of the money is donated via Waggle, an animal-focused, online crowdsourcing platform, and will go directly to the dog or cat’s vet. Miranda has her own Foundation, the non-profit MuttNation Foundation, created in 2009 with her mom, Bev, to support animal rescues throughout the country, among other pet-related initiatives. MuttNation Foundation is kicking off the fund with a matching grant donation. No one knows how long this pandemic will last, but at least we know there are people in the world who will step up and help those in need.  Miranda Lambert is one such person.
