The country sister trio Gal Friday will release debut album Smoke and Mirrors this month available on iTunes, Spotify, Pandora and all other digital purchase and streaming platforms. “Smoke and Mirrors has been a long time coming,” said Lauren Wilson of Gal Friday. “We’ve been fortunate to partner with writers like Kim Tribble (“I Can Still Feel You”, Collin Raye), Keesy Timmer (“Yeah Boy”, Kelsea Ballerini) and Tammy King (member, The Steeldrivers), who really helped focus and create the Gal Friday sound. We’re looking forward to giving our fans what we feel is a true representation of us. Though this is the trio’s debut album, they’re hardly new to the industry. Raised in rural North Carolina, they accompanied their parents – both bluegrass artists. Though each took their own musical path, singing and picking up instruments in their own time, the siblings’ seemingly flawless harmonies had friends and family members encouraging them to join forces and follow in their parents’ footsteps. The name “Gal Friday” came from a phrase the girls heard on a television show. “A woman on television referred to her best friend as her ‘girl Friday’ – her confidant, her Friday night out, her ride-or-die,” said Melissa York of Gal Friday. “We tweaked it a bit, being from the south – and Gal Friday was born. “Their sound – a sonically pleasing blend of southern gospel, rock and bluegrass – made it’s mainstream debut with single “Scrapyard”, which premiered exclusively with The Boot on August 30 and was made available with digital outlets September 1. The band has opened for A-listers Keith Urban, Charles Esten, The Band Perry, LoCash, Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, Travis Tritt, Wynonna Judd, Chase Rice and Kellie Pickler, among others.
