One Direction, Katy Perry were among the big winners during the 2014 American Music Awards
on Sunday evening televised on ABC from Los Angeles. It was a very big night indeed for the likes of One Direction, Katy Perry, and newcomers Sam Smith and 5 Seconds of Summer. The broadcast was hosted once again by Pitbull and produced by Larry Klein for the Dick Clark Company. There were a number of live performances from Taylor Swift, who performed her new hit single “Blank Space”, (she also won a special achievement award from the Dick Clark company) to 5 Seconds Of Summer, Mary J. Blige, Charlie XCX, Fergie, Lorde, Magic (among others ) including a live performance debut of “The Heart Wants What It Wants” from Selena Gomez. The American Music Awards most often helps set the template for the annual Grammy Awards.

The American Music Awards seems to have become more of a concert show than awards show. So, if you like the artists on the show, its great.

I use to work the AMAs when it was an Awards show. Different show in a different time, I guess.
