If you were able to live through the advance hype for Selena Gomez and Blackpink’s new collaboration “Ice Cream” these last few weeks, congratulations. The hype machine was working over time with social media teasers, posters, banners, and everything else possible prior to the song release from Pop Princess Selena and South Korea’s favorite teen girl group, Blackpink. But in the world of hype for this song, Selena Gomez was the clear winner. Selena announced she had become an investor in Serendipity 3, the restaurant and brand that popularized frozen hot chocolate. The iconic flagship eatery on New York’s Upper East Side was founded in 1954 by Stephen Bruce and where back in the day, Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol were regulars, as was Jacqueline Kennedy. And with that she is releasing her own flavor of ice cream to go along with the song’s release. That’s right, Serendipity’s new line of ice cream is called “Cookies & Cream Remix.” The sweet treat, which costs $5.99 for a pint, is made with pink vanilla ice cream, cookie bites and fudge. “I grew up going to the iconic restaurant so I couldn’t be more excited to join the ownership team. In honor of the release of ‘Ice Cream’ with Blankpink, I created ‘Cookies and Cream Remix,’ made with pink vanilla ice cream as a nod to the girls,” acknowledged Selena. “Basically it’s heaven and every bite is delicious.” And with that being said, Selena Gomez has just won the hype award of the year. “Ice Cream” is more than a song for Selena Gomez.
